Natural Australian Opal Ring

Welcome, lovely 💜 I'm an Australian opal cutter and jewelry maker ✨ (aside from the time I spend being a mommy or staring at my opals 🤩).

This stunning natural Australian crystal opal ring is handcrafted in 925 sterling silver. It is a size 6.25 (US) with a slightly snug fit, so it will best suit sizes 6–6.25. This opal is cut into a high-dome bubble heart shape. The silver has been rhodium-plated to preserve its color and luster. The opal is a solid crystal opal. This type is known as a jelly opal for its translucent, jelly-like play-of-fire. Its high dome makes the colors appear more prominent and intense while also adding to its value. 💜

Aussie opals are highly prized because they *don’t lose color in water or sweat and are much less prone to cracking than cheaper Ethiopian opals. Opals set in protective bezels* are good for everyday wear! Lightning Ridge opals are the world's 5th most valuable rare gem and extremely sought after! ✨️

*Opals are light-dependent; their most vivid flashes are seen in sunlight or bright indoor light! In dull light, they do not appear as bright! Opals also have directions*, some more brighter than others! P.S. I’ve included photos and videos in different lighting so you know what to expect 🤗🖤🌌 The first image is taken with flash, showing the brightest it can look, like in direct sunlight!!

I made this piece with many hours of labor of love (literally)! I cut the heart-shaped opal from rough material sourced from Lightning Ridge, Australia. This particular ring was designed by me using CAD, and I set the stone with prongs.

It is very difficult to capture the play of fire in opals accurately. I can assure you they look even better in person than they do in the listing photos.
