The protective bezel setting fully covers the back, helping prevent water from reaching the bond between the opal and its black backing, which can cause a foggy appearance. This is why opal doublets are ideal for jewelry that isn't regularly exposed to water.

The opal is first photographed under a flashlight to show its brightest play of color, similar to how it appears in sunlight. It is also filmed indoors without sunlight or flash. Opals are incredibly difficult to photograph, so any differences are due to camera limitations.

-Opals are naturally directional, so they flash more brightly from certain angles. They also depend on lighting—the brighter the light (especially sunlight), the more vibrant their colors appear!
