Welcome lovely 💜 I'm an Australian Opal cutter and jewelry maker ✨ (aside from the time I spend mommying or staring at my Opals 🤩) This stunning natural Australian crystal opal necklace with an emerald and sapphire (lab) is made with 925 silver. The necklace is 16 inches long (An extender can be added free of cost if needed!) It is an ombre shade of lavender & teal. The silver has been rhodium-plated to preserve its color and luster. The opal is a solid. The 925 silver paperclip chain is 16 inches long. Theres a matching ombre heart necklace similar to this, incase you want to match with your bestie/ mom or anyone ❤️ Australian opals are world famous for their beauty & color preservation. The inexpensive Ethiopian opals lose their color in water/ perspiration. Hence, Aussie opals are some of the rarest & most expensive gemstones in the world! I have made this piece by my hands, with many hours of labor of love (literally)! I cut the heart-shaped opal from rough stone material sourced from Lightning Ridge, Australia. This particular pendant was designed by me using CAD, as I wanted to incorporate petite lab sapphires into a delicate design. I set the stones with prongs. The opals are first photographed under a flashlight to show the best color they can display, similar to how they appear in sunlight. They are also filmed indoors without sunlight or flash. It is very difficult to capture the play-of-fire in opals. I can assure you they look even better in person than in the listing photos. (Important) I have varnished the back of the opal with lilac lacquer and also darkened the seat of the silver setting. This enhances the opal’s colors, as crystals reflect their colors best against a colored background. The opals themselves are solid, thick, and vividly colored. The prices of the pieces have been kept the same as if they did not have the enhanced look created by the black background. This allows you to purchase a piece at a reasonable cost while it appears like a $1000+ opal. In this way, I’m able to offer my customers the opal of their dreams at an accessible price. However, the lacquer may fade after years of wear, especially if worn while swimming or exposed to chemicals. The opal will still be beautiful, but slightly less vivid. It is best to avoid wearing opals while bathing, in a sauna, or while swimming. The lacquer can last a lifetime if worn carefully. This does not mean it is a doublet opal (a thin slice of opal cemented to a black base stone, which is structurally weaker and bland colored on its own). Jewelry Care • Opals are precious and delicate gemstones — treat with gentle care to preserve their natural beauty. • Keep away from perfumes, lotions, and household chemicals. • Remove before showering, swimming, or exercising. Impact or drop can cause cracking! • Clean softly with a dry, lint-free cloth only. No ultrasonic or steam cleaning! • Store in a soft pouch or airtight box to protect the stone and minimize silver tarnish. * Use silver polishing cloth for silver if it darkens.
