This stunning natural Australian crystal opal pendant with a natural sapphire is handcrafted by me in 925 sterling silver. I cut this purple opal heart myself on my Dremel! ✨️ It has a magical neon purple sheen that's impossible to capture. 💜🧚‍♀️✨️ The bezel setting helps protect both gemstones.

The opal is solid (so it won't lose its color in water!) and is known as a jelly opal for its translucent, jelly-like play of fire. Its high dome makes it appear larger, intensifies its color, and adds to its value. 💜 The natural purple sapphire adds gorgeous sparkle, while the sterling silver has been rhodium plated to preserve its color and luster.

Australian opals are world-famous for their beauty and color stability.* In contrast, inexpensive Ethiopian opals can lose their color when exposed to water or perspiration. That's why Australian opals are among the rarest and most valuable gemstones in the world.

I made this piece entirely by hand with many hours of labor of love (literally)! I cut the heart-shaped opal from rough material sourced from Lightning Ridge, Australia.

The opals are first photographed under bright light to show their maximum play of color, similar to how they appear in sunlight. They are also filmed indoors without sunlight or flash. Opals are extremely difficult to photograph, and I can assure you they look even more beautiful in person than in the listing photos.
