The opal is a solid lightening ridge opal, with neon dark blue & purple flashes which are vibrant without bright light as well! It is vibrant and visible from afar! The inexpensive Ethiopian opals lose their color in water/ perspiration. Hence, Aussie opals are some of the rarest & most expensive gemstones in the world! I have made this piece with my hands, with many hours of labor of love (literally)! I cut the heart-shaped opal from rough stone material sourced from Lightning Ridge, Australia. This particular pendant was set by hand with a prong setting in a 14k pendant base. The opals are first photographed under a flashlight to show the best color they can display, similar to how they appear in sunlight. They are also filmed indoors without sunlight or flash. It is very difficult to capture the play-of-fire in opals. I can assure you they look even better in person than in the listing photos. The crystal is itself a black opal, but we have darkened the back of the setting & opal for additional vividness of color, as crystals reflect the fire best over a dark background! Which makes it look like a 1500$ worth black opal! The price for the piece has been set by its original color, the crystal has, without a dark backing! The closed-back bezel secures the opal, so there's no worry about the color ever decreasing! This helps to score a stunning piece at a more affordable price!
